You own a device. Which IPTV player apps actually exist for it, which login your provider can give you that the app will accept, and what the catch is? This table answers that one question, device by device, from what the manufacturers and the app developers publish themselves. It is maintained by IPTV Canada Neo; the step-by-step installs live in the IPTV setup hub, and the player-by-player comparison in the IPTV apps guide. Nothing here ranks apps or sells hardware.
How to read the table
- First step, always: identify your platform before choosing a player. Two devices with the same name can run different operating systems — the Fire TV rows below are the clearest case.
- Every row carries its sources and the date it was last checked; the changelog at the end records what changed.

Fire TV: the same name, two operating systems
Amazon now ships Fire TV sticks on two unrelated operating systems. The long-standing one is Fire OS, which is built on Android: those sticks and cubes take apps from the Amazon Appstore and also allow apps from unknown sources, which is how players that are not in the Appstore get installed. The newer one is Vega OS, which Amazon introduced on 30 September 2025 with the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and describes as built on Linux components. Amazon’s own device table lists three Vega sticks at the time of writing — the Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025, Vega OS 1.1), the Fire TV Stick HD (2026, Vega OS 1.1) and the Fire TV Stick 4K 3rd Gen (2026, Vega OS 2.0) — and it keeps the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025), the 4K Max and 4K second generations (2023), the Fire TV Cube (2022), the 2024 Fire TV Stick HD and every Fire TV Edition television on Fire OS.
The trap is the naming. “Fire TV Stick HD” is a Fire OS product from 2024 (model code AFTSS) and a Vega OS product from 2026 (AFTCL001); “Fire TV Stick 4K” is Fire OS in its 2023 second generation (AFTKM) and Vega OS in its 2026 third generation (AFTCR001). Before you choose a player, open Settings › My Fire TV › About on the device, or read the model code on the stick, and match it against Amazon’s table linked in the row. Amazon’s Vega documentation describes installing an app outside the Appstore only in Developer Mode with Amazon’s own command-line tools and Vega packages, which is a developer workflow; it does not describe installing Android APKs. On the consumer side, Vega apps come only from the Appstore: of the players in this table, VLC is the only one with a Vega OS release, and VideoLAN’s announcement documents local files and SMB / UPnP-DLNA network shares; it does not document M3U playlists, Xtream Codes or portal logins. The Fire OS models remain the sticks where the IPTV players in this table are documented.
Smart TVs: the store decides, and the year matters
Samsung, LG, Hisense/Toshiba (VIDAA), the Foxxum-based brands and the Whale OS and Titan OS sets each have their own app store, and there is no consumer sideloading on any of them. What is in the store depends on the region and the TV’s platform version, and the developers are uneven about saying which models they cover. Only two publish ranges today: Smart IPTV states Tizen 6.5 and newer (2022 models onward) for its current Samsung build, webOS 3.0 and newer for LG, and a legacy build for Netcast and webOS 1.0–2.0; Net IPTV states Samsung 2016–2020 and LG webOS 1.0–5.0. Smart STB, SmartOne, ibo Pro Player, HotPlayer and IPTV Smarters Pro list the platforms without a range, and the table says exactly that. If your television is a 2021 Samsung, for instance, no developer’s published range covers it, and the only reliable check is the store on the set itself. The TV’s model year and platform version are in Settings › Support › About This TV (Samsung) and Settings › General › About This TV (LG).
Boxes, Apple devices and computers
Android TV and Google TV devices have the widest choice because Google Play carries most players and unknown-sources installs are a user setting; the one restriction worth knowing is Smart IPTV’s Android 13 requirement, which rules out older boxes. Apple TV, iPhone and iPad are App Store only, with no sideloading; the practical limits there are that Smarters Player Lite documents M3U and JSON but not Xtream Codes, that GSE Smart IPTV Pro has no Apple TV or Mac version, and that two look-alike apps borrow the ibo and GSE names — the developer name on the listing is what to check. Formuler boxes ship with MYTVOnline (version 2, 3 or 4 by model, as Formuler lists them), BuzzTV boxes with the BuzzTV app, and both can add any Android TV player from Google Play; MAG boxes use a portal login only. On a computer, IPTV Smarters Expert is the Microsoft Store option for Windows, Smarters Player Lite and ibo Pro Player have Mac builds, and VLC plays a stream on either but has no guide or channel manager. Roku is listed by two developers and is not supported by our service; Roku’s own documentation keeps sideloading inside its developer programme, one app at a time.
How this table is verified
Every cell comes from a manufacturer page (Amazon’s Fire TV device table and Vega announcements, Roku’s developer documentation, Formuler, Infomir and BuzzTV product pages), a developer’s own site, or an official store listing (Google Play, the Canadian App Store, Samsung and LG stores, the Microsoft Store). Reseller compatibility lists, press reports and forum posts are never used as a cell value; where press has reported something a manufacturer has not published, the table says only what the manufacturer says. Each row shows its sources and the date it was last checked. The whole table is re-checked every quarter, and within a week of any device or operating-system announcement from Amazon, Google, Apple, Samsung or LG. A row changes only when a first-party page changes; the changelog below records each change with its date.

Changelog
- 4 Oct 2026 — Vega OS row re-verified: VLC for Vega OS is available in the Amazon Appstore (VideoLAN, 23 July 2026); its announcement documents local files and SMB / UPnP-DLNA shares, not M3U, Xtream Codes or portal logins. No other player in the table publishes a Vega release. The install note now separates the consumer Appstore route from Amazon’s Developer Mode workflow.
- 2 Oct 2026 — First publication. All rows verified against the sources listed; Amazon’s device table lists three Vega OS sticks (4K Select 2025, Stick HD 2026, Stick 4K 3rd Gen 2026); Smart IPTV’s published ranges are Tizen 6.5+/2022+ and webOS 3.0+; Net IPTV’s are Samsung 2016–2020 and webOS 1.0–5.0.
